The word is "cymotrichous" - C-Y-M-O-T-R-I-C-H-O-U-S.  It means having wavy hair.  That was the winning word in the 84th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. 

14-year old Sukanya Roy of South Abington, Pennsylvania is this year's winner.  She beat out runner-up Laura Newcombe of Toronto and 274 other young competitors from all over the world.  Sukanya won more than 40-thousand dollars in cash and prizes.

Our local representatve, 13-year Nabeel Rahman of Casey Middle School in the Williamsville School District finished 10th.  Congratulations to him.
