What if the bars on the weekend didn't close at 2 AM? What if they didn't close at 4 either. What do you think about the idea of bars closing at 2 during the week and 3 on the weekends in Erie County.

That's based off the model of Niagara County that has those time c

Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs first proposed the idea of a 2 a.m. bar closings over the Summer. Keep in mind that is not something up to him to decide though. If a proposal has to be brought to be decided on by New York State Liquor Authority and Erie County legislation.

According to WGRZ:

The Allentown Association supports looking into a 2 a.m. closing time, and the Days Park Block Club has come out in support of making the change already citing the problems that happen from 2 to 4 a.m. like patrons urinating on their front lawns or porches and people exhibiting sexual behavior in the park as its reasons for wanting the bars to close earlier.

"They're willing to tolerate a good deal, but in some areas like Allentown and people have moved into the Chippewa District, things have gotten a little too hard to take, I think, and if we want to continue this renaissance of people living downtown, and families staying downtown, I really this is another reason we want to have this discussion," says Jacobs.
