This week's Hometown Hero is originally from Lancaster. It's 21-year-old Infantry Specialist Nick Koeppel!

This week’s nomination came from Nick’s sister Kristina and reads:

Nick is my younger brother. I am so proud of the man he has become. While serving our country in Afghanistan, he saved the lives of himself and 2 fellow soldiers. He defused a situation with the Afghanis at gun point that could have ended in blood shed and lives lost. Not only did he turn 21 in Afghanistan, he was also diagnosed with cancer while deployed. Nick was more worried about leaving his troop than his own health. He put his life on the line for our freedom. Knowing what he went through and only to come out stronger lets me know that he is a true Hero. God Bless!!!

So thank you for everything you do for your country, Nick. We are honored to call you our Hometown Hero this week.

Remember, if you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, simply click the button below. We will honor a new Hometown Hero each week, and if their name is picked, not only do we mention them on the air but we also dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Thank you once again to Infantry Specialist Nick Koeppel, this week’s Hometown Hero!
