It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero from North Tonawanda, NY served proudly in the United States Marine Corps.  It’s Nathan Troy Timblin!

Timblin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2003. He went to Parris Island in 2004 and was awarded as an expert marksman and best shot in his company. He then deployed to Al Anbar Providence, Iraq in 2005 as his squads Point Man and designated marksman. Troy served in 7 major operations along with countless raids and patrols. He operated in cities of Hit, Ramadi, Haditha, Al Asad, Fallujha and dozens of villages. His main mission was to eliminate insurgents and stop the flow of insurgents coming from Syria. His unit alone lost 46 Marines and 2 Navy Corps men...including his best friend. Troy was wounded countless times by IEDs and RPGs and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. His injuries still affect him to this day. Troy was discharged in 2007.

Today, we are grateful to Troy for fighting for our country.  This week, we are proud to name him our Hometown Hero of the week!
