Country fans may only know them from their massive smash-hit "Wagon Wheel" that Darius Rucker covered and took to No. 1 on the country charts, but Old Crow Medicine Show are some bluegrass icons that deserve the recognition.

During a sold-out show in Cleveland, the band got the surprise of a lifetime. A longtime friend and member of the Opry came to give them the good news:

In 1925, there was a show started in Nashville called the Grand Ole Opry. It was founded on a traditional fiddle tune. It’s been going on for 88 years. It’s a great American story. Would you all consider becoming a part of this great American story and becoming Grand Ole Opry members?

Around since 2000 and four albums later, Old Crow Medicine Show will be inducted into the Opry during a ceremony on Tuesday, September 17, at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
