Oldest Man In History

It was only two weeks after becoming the country’s oldest person, Mamie Rearden of Edgefield,Georgia passed away at the age of 114.  She was born in 1898.  She was married for 59 years until her husband died in 1979. She raised 11 children, 10 of them still living.

It leaves Elsie Thompson of Clearwater,Florida as the oldest living American.  But she’s only sixth on the list of the verified oldest people.

The current top-10 list of the oldest people in the world is all women expect for one – the one on top, a Japanese man.  115-year-old Jiroemon Kimura is also the oldest man in recorded history.  He’ll turn 116 on April 19th.

He’s also on the top-10 list of oldest people in recorded history.  All of the others are women.  The oldest person to ever live for which there is documented evidence is Jeanne Calment of France who died in 1997.  She was 122, 164 days old.
