Col. Kurt Hammer is currently serving in his 37th year in the Air Force, which began in 1976. He has been at Niagara since 1980 and is the longest serving member at Niagara Falls Reserve Station ever at 32 plus years.

After 37 years in the Air Force, he has shown thousands what it means to fight for something you truly believe in.

Col. Hammer was nominated by his son who is not only incredibly inspired by his father but has also chosen to follow in his footsteps.

We would like to say thank you to Col. Hammer for his incredible years of service!

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them right here on WYRK.com, but we’ll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
