There are times when I'm embarrassed to admit I'm a Buffalo Sabres fan -- like this whole season. What a mess of a team.

There is some talent, but obviously not enough, and that's thanks to the mismanagement of the joker who was general manager for way too long.

So what we have is a collection of promising young players and marginal veterans that are wearing the colors of our hometown. And this year, they get to be the worst team in the league -- yep, not one team in the league is worse.

So what happens when one of the top teams in the league comes in? The only thing to be decided is the final score. Drew Stafford gave the Sabres an early lead on the Pittsburgh Penguins, but after that it was all Pittsburgh, as the Penguins crushed the Sabres 5-1.

Ryan Miller looked pretty ordinary in goal. Has he already checked out of Buffalo thinking about the Olympics? Or is he hoping to be traded? He didn't get much help either, but it was just not a good night for the entire team.

The Sabres play Thursday night in Ottawa before heading into the Olympic break.
