Reba McEntire released "Pray for Peace" on Facebook long before any hint of her new album Love Somebody. The inspirational song dropped last July, but until now fans weren't able to see all that went into the recording.

The singer previously said the song came to her in late 2013. In this video exclusive to Taste of Country she expands, sharing much of the meat of the song came during a trip to Cancun in 2014.

“I just had this idea about pray for peace," McEntire says, "and I’d wake up in the middle of the night singing, ‘Pray for Peace.’ I just felt it was a message saying this needs to be out there.”

The country legend gives her backing vocalists clear instructions during the recording of this song, even offering a pitch to match during one portion. Producer Doug Sisemore helped her shape the final production, as did Ronnie Dunn. McEntire and Dunn — who'll start a Las Vegas residency along with Kix Brooks this spring  — had dinner one night and the "Going Out Like That" singer told him about the idea.

“The next day he said, ‘I can’t get this out of my head,’” she dishes. Dunn also makes an appearance in this video, joking about how he worked his way into a session.

Watch as the gospel singers add their tones and McEntire riffs between cries of "Pray for peace." The song is the final song on Love Somebody, the singer's 27th studio album, in stores now.
