It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from Buffalo, NY.  He was an E6 in the United States Army.  It’s 77 year old Robert Genovese!

Robert served in Honduras, South America and Berlin, Germany. He started off his career in the service as a mechanic but then became a medic. After that he became an assistant Chaplin. He really was a jack of all trades!

His nomination says:

This man is my Grandfather. He takes care of my diabetic grandmother full time (who is prone to falling and having multiple diabetic insulin reactions). My grandfather helped my mother raise her five children, always giving money when he could or helping with food. He helps my older siblings with their children now also. We always have holidays at his house where we all get together. Now my grandmother is getting sick and sadly, so is he. I just want him praised for all the things that he has done in the past that hardly anyone recognizes.

That is exactly why we do this feature.  This week, we are honored to shine a spotlight on Robert Genovese.  He is a hero in your family and we are proud to name him our Hometown Hero of the week!

If you would like to see a picture of Robert, get to WYRK.com!  While you’re there, nominate your own Hometown Hero. We like to honor both active duty and veteran heroes from right here in Western New York.

Thanks once again to United States Army E6 Robert Genovese, our Hometown Hero of the week!
