The Sabres came thru with an important victory Wednesday night in their drive to the playoffs.  Jason Pominville's power play goal in overtime gave the Sabres a 3-2 win over Carolina to move the Sabres to within two points of the final playoff spot with 15 games left to play.

The Sabres were trailing 1-0 when Tyler Myers and Thomas Vanek scored back to back goals early in the second period.  The Hurricanes tied it a short time later and the score stood at 2-2 thru the third period forcing overtime.

Those goals by Pominville and Vanek were huge because the team's leading scorers have both gone dry over the past two weeks.  And the Sabres need both to come thru over the final month of the season if the Sabres expect to make the playoffs.

The Sabres are in Boston Thursday night and move on to Ottawa on Saturday.
