Seven straight losses for the Buffalo Sabres, tying a team record.  The Sabres scored first in the first period, but the Calgary Flames tied it late in the second period, then took the lead midway thru the third.  Try as they might the Sabres could generate much offense.  They hardly generated any shots finishing with only 14 for the game in a 3-1 loss.

During the skid the Sabres have been getting scoring from only two players and it was no different Tuesday night.  Drew Stafford put the Sabres ahead with a nice wrap around goal, but that was it for the night.  Between him and Tyler Ennis they're the only ones scoring goals - a total of six during the seven game losing streak.  The Sabres had another goal wiped out and a potential 2-0 lead when the officials determined the Calgary goaltender had been interferred with.

On the positive side, Nathan Lieuwen got his first National Hockey League start and played well, stopping 23 of 26 shots.  Michael Neuvirth is expected to be in goal Thursday night when the Sabres play at Edmonton.
