Give the Buffalo Sabres credit for hanging in with the Chicago Blackhawks.  A third period goal by Hawks captain Jonathan Toews was the difference in Chicago's 2-1 win.

Buffalo native Patrick Kane and the Sabres' Drew Stafford traded first period goals and it stayed at 1-1 until Toews beat Jonas Enroth early in the third.  The Sabres came close to tying it with Enroth on the bench in the final minute, but couldn't find the back of the net.

The game marked the debut of Corey Conacher picked up on waivers from Ottawa.  He played his college hockey at Canisius and assisted on Stafford's goal.

The Sabres remain home to host Nashville Tuesday night.
