Sabres Fall to Rangers
For the third straight game the Sabres went to overtime, then a shootout, but for the first time this season they fell. The Rangers scored twice in shootout to beat the Sabres 3-2 in New York.The Sabres got into penalty trouble in the third period and it cost them. Consecutive penalties to Andre Sekera and five-minutes to Patrick Kaleta gave the Rangers a two-man advantage and they cashed in to tie the game, then take the lead. Nathan Gerbe tied it again with a shorthanded goal to force the overtime but the Sabres came up short.
With an effective power play the Sabres could have won this game. They had a two-man advantage for a short time in the in the overtime period and could have ended it right there, but couldn't find the net and it brought their modest three-game winning streak to an end.
The Sabres continue their road trip Tuesday night in Carolina.
