NHL sources say the NHL Board of Governors has approved the sale of the Buffalo Sabres to Terry Pegula. That word coming just hours before the Sabres game Friday night against the St. Louis Blues. The only thing left to do now is to sign the papers making the ownership swap official and that's expected to happen this Tuesday.

Pegula is expected to be very active in the operation of the team. He's a hockey fan, specifically a Sabres fan and he can identify with the everyday people who pay their hard-earned dollars to sit in the stands and watch the team game in and game out. He identifies with them because he was there. He was a season ticket holder for years.

Pegula has a vision that the Sabres can be a championship team. They're a little weak in a few areas and whereas current owner Tom Golisano had a self-imposed team budget - there have been hints that Pegula wouldn't be bashful about shellling out the money to acquire the key players the team needs to get them over the top. I love what I hear.
