The Buffalo Sabres lost in St. Louis, but have nothing to be ashamed about.  They turned in an impressive effort against one of the best teams in the leagues falling 2-1.

Cody Hodgson scored the lone goal for Buffalo on the power play in the final minute of the third period to give the Sabres a chance to tie the game and they came close in the final 15 seconds but a Zemgus Girgensons couldn't get off a solid shot.

Sabres goaltender Nathan Lieuwen played well in the loss, stopping 26 of 28 shots.  Former Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller never got the chance to play against his former team.  He was the back-up to Brian Elliott.

The Sabres play in Detroit on Friday night.
