The Buffalo Sabres moved into sole possession of 8th place and the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with Saturday night's 3 to 1 win over the Minnesota Wild.  After giving up the opening goal in the first period the Sabres took over the game outshooting the Wild by a wide margin, tying the game on a goal by Thomas Vanek, then taking the lead for good early in the third period on a tip in by rookie Marcus Foligno of a shot by defenseman Tyler Myers.

For Foligno, he's now scored six goals and 10 points in eight games since being called up from Rochester.  Another rookie, Cody Hodgson clinched it with a goal into an empty net just a fraction of a second before time expired.

Ryan Miller turned aside 24 shots in the Sabres' fourth straight win.

For now, the victory moves the Sabres two points up on the Washington Capitals, but the Capitals have played one less game.  They'll make up that game Sunday night when they host Minnesota ahead of a showdown with the Sabres on Tuesday night.
