This year's edition of the Sabres is as brutal as a Buffalo winter. If they're trying to be the worst team in the league, they've succeeded in grand fashion.

The Sabres lost their fifth in a row and completed a winless three-game homestand, falling to the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3. Former Sabre defenseman Andrei Sekera scored the winning goal in the third period after the Sabres briefly led it 3-2.

It's a team game, and the players will tell you they win and lose as a team, but the worst player on the ice Thursday night was Buffalo goaltender Jonas Enroth. He was absolutely brutal. He was like a big brick of Swiss cheese in front of the Buffalo goal. Of the 15 games he's played this year, he has 14 losses. This loss came with a big exclamation point. If the Sabres end up trading Ryan Miller, this team is in trouble for years to come if they expect Enroth to be their go-to guy.

Cody Hodgson, Brian Flynn and Tyler Ennis scored for Buffalo.

So now on a five-game losing streak, they'll face a team on an eight-game winning streak. Good luck. They play in Columbus on Saturday night.
