There was a time when air travel was a very special occasion.  I remember our family taking a California vacation when I was a kid and all of us got dressed up to get on the plane.  My father and I both wore a jacket and tie.  My mom and sisters wore dresses.  That's the way it was.  Back then passengers were actually served meals during their flights.  We got both breakfast and lunch heading out to California - and it was part of the price of the ticket.  There were no hassles at security having to nearly strip to get to the gate.  No charges for baggage.  It was a different time and I miss it.I thought the plane ride was the best part of the vacation.  It was so much fun, but boy has that changed.  It's to the point now I can't stand flying anymore.  To me it's a flying cattle car.  If it's within a reasonable distance to drive....I'd rather drive.

But still there's something magic about getting on a plane and within a matter of hours you can be on the other side of the country or in a foreign country.  I just wish it didn't take so long to get there.  But what if, for example, you could get on a plane in San Francisco and arrive in Paris within a couple of minutes?  An 11-hour flight in let's say two minutes.  Through time lapse photography you can do it just like one passenger did, setting his camera on a tripod and used a time lapse controller.  He figures his camera shot an image every two miles.  Now this is the way I wish air travel was.
