We mentioned earlier this week October is National Dessert Month, National Cookie Month and National Caramel Month. This Saturday is Sweetest Day – it’s always the third Saturday in October.
It’s a day set aside to recognize that certain sweetheart in your life. It doesn’t matter who that person is or what their relation to you. They just have to be "sweet" in order to get a little recognition.

The origination of Sweetest Day extends back to 1922, when Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee wanted to bring happiness to orphans, shut-ins and the underprivileged. He wanted to show them that they were not forgotten. He gave them candy and small gifts and often was able to use movie stars to hand out the gifts.

From there, it spread. The American Greeting Company of Cleveland took it to the next level and gives us yet another excuse to show our loved ones how much we appreciate them.
