Are you old enough to remember the Blizzard of '77? This Saturday marks the 35th Anniversary of the Blizzard of '77. It was because of this famous storm that Buffalo earned the reputation as the "snow capital of the Northeast". See what one storm can do for you? I have very vivid memories of the storm. The snow was up to the second story windows of my parents home. I remember getting to work by snowmobile because driving a regular vehicle was downright impossible. It was during this famous storm that the late Buffalo mayor Jimmy Griffin uttered the unforgettable phrase, "Stay home and grab a six-pack". I can't even believe that this all happened 35 years ago. Buffalo experienced a huge baby boom about 9 months after the storm. Well, what else are you going to do when you are snowed in for a week?
