It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero from Lockport, NY is 1st Sergeant Robert Waters of the Army National Guard!

1st Sergeant Waters has been serving for 22.5 years.  He was originally from Maryland as he was born on a naval airbase on Patuxent River. Bobby’s Dad also served 6 years.

Bobby was in Iraq 2004-2005, as Military police and he also served in Afghanistan in 2008-2009 with the 101 Calvary as a forward observer.

He has been a member of Honor guard for 5 years now and is currently attending the US Army Sergeant Major academy.

With1st Sergeant Waters, serving our country is definitely a family affair.  His son Zachary is also currently serving in Fort Hood Tx with the 1st Calvary and his stepson Zachary Grawe served 6 years with the Marine Corp, including in Afaghanistan .

This week, we are grateful to families like that of Bobby Waters fighting for our country and we are proud to name 1st Sergeant Waters our Hometown Hero of the week! .
