It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming. And we would like to give a quick shoutout to our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week as well. This Week’s Hometown Hero is 25 year old Sgt. Zachary Knorr!

Zachary graduated from Hamburg High School with the class of 2009 and joined the army the following January.

He married his wife Jillian on November 23, 2010 and then left for his first duty station a month later. He was stationed there in South Korea for a year until December 2011 when he returned to Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.

However, he wasn’t back in the states long. He was deployed to Afghanistan on January 17, 2013 with his pregnant wife still at home.  He returned to Ft. Bragg on June 1, 2013

just in time for the birth of his son Camden.

Since then, he’s been stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, and South Korea.

He’s been such an inspiration that he’s not the only one from his family in the service. He’s the big brother to Airman 1st class Frederick R. Knorr currently stationed in Arizona.

This week, for all of his service and sacrifice, we are proud to call Sgt. Zachary Knorr our Hometown Hero of the week.

Thanks once again to Army Sgt. Zachary Knorr, our Hometown Hero of the week!
