[Getty Images][/caption]Wow!  I'm absolutely fascinated and excited to learn there's a sequel to the Harper Lee novel "To Kill A Mockingbird".  It's my favorite book and movie.  The 1962 movie starring Gregory Peck in the role of Atticus Finch won three Academy Awards including a Best Actor Oscar for Peck.  It was long thought that the Pulitzer Prize winning novel was the only one Lee ever wrote until just recently when it was revealed there is a follow up.

"Go Set A Watchman" is set for release on July 14th.  Ironically, Lee wrote it before "Mockingbird" and was the inspiration for it.  "Watchman" is the story of the adult "Scout" with flashbacks to her childhood.

I'm sure anyone who's ever read "Mockingbird" or seen the movie has wondered whatever became of the characters.  The story of prejudice and racial injustice in 1930's Alabama thru the eyes of a young girl has sold over 30-million copies in 18 languages and still sells 750,000 copies a year.

The movie received eight Oscar nominations and is considered one of the best movies ever made.  The performances of Peck and the young actors who played the roles of Scout and her brother Jem were amazing.  It also marked the movie debut of Robert Duvall in the role of Boo Radley.

Harper Lee apparently thought she could never top the success of "Mockingbird" so she held on to the "other" book all these years.  Her lawyer apparently found it last fall and encouraged Lee to share it.  She gave it to a few friends and they loved it.

The publisher plans to print 2-million copies, plus an electronic edition of the new book.  Sign me up now.
