Buffalo's Monday night Slow Roll bicycle rides continue thru the end of October.  Last night's ride took riders thru the city's Riverside and Black Rock sections.

I happened to be visiting my father in law at his home in Riverside last night when the Slow Roll route took riders right thru his neighborhood.  It's a great concept and gives riders a chance to see areas of the city they may have never seen before and for most of these riders they've lived in Buffalo all of their lives.

I spoke with one of the team leaders and asked how many people turned out for last night's ride.  He said it varies from week to week, but generally at any point along the ride route about 100 riders pass per minute.  I stood at the corner of Roesch and Newfield Streets for about 5 minutes and by the time I got there several hundred had already passed.

And what a beautiful evening for a bicycle ride.  Last night's route took riders along Kenmore Avenue, Military Road, Tonawanda, Ontario and Niagara Streets.  Rides each week with an after-party with drinks, food trucks and music.

Clay Moden spoke with Seamus Gallivan, one of the Slow Roll organizers a few weeks ago about the ride's effects on traffic in the city and how they handle it.

There are three more Slow Rolls left on the schedule for this year.  The next one is Monday, October 17th at Olivencia Community Center, 261 Swan St. in Buffalo.
