It has been about a week now since Apple's former CEO Steve Jobs passed away.  We all know him for his Apple products like the iPad, iPod, etc...., but here are 10 interesting facts about the man that you may or may have not known!

 

#1- While in 8th grade, Steve Jobs was offered an internship with Hewlett-Packard.  Jobs had called the offices of Hewlett-Packard to report a part missing from a frequency counter he was working on.  According to the NY Times, Jobs spoke with the company for 20 minutes, then offered him a bag of parts and an internship for that summer!

 

#2- Steve Saved Pixar- Jobs purchased the company from George Lucas' LucasFilm for 5-million dollars in '86.  First film after Jobs purchased the company---"Toy Story."

 

#3- Jobs was Disney's largest shareholder- this happened when the company purchased Pixar in 2006.

 

#4- Jobs & Wozniak sold "blue boxes"- The two built "blue boxes" that would allow phones to make free calls to anywhere in the world.  The duo reportedly made roughly 6-thousand dollars from it.

 

#5- Jobs was homeless at one point- In his 2005 speech at Stanford, Jobs said "I didn't have a dorm room"...."so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned Coke bottles for 5-cent deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple."

 

#6- Jobs dated Joan Baez- While in his 20's Jobs dated the folk singer!

 

#7- Steve was a vegetarian- PETA praised the man for his support of animals and his eating habits.

 

#8- He patented the glass stairway at the Apple Store- Jobs is listed among the circle of inventors for 317 Apple patents!

 

#9- Rebel!! Jobs drove without a license plate for many years- Steve drove his 2007 Mercedes-Benz for years with no legit license plate...just a bar code----That according to USA Today!

 

#10- Steve tried LSD- He reportedly said that it was "One of the 2 or 3 most important things I have done in my life."
