There's a local connection to the 30th season of 'Survivor' when the reality show debuts next month. One of the 18 players is a state trooper from Grand Island.  44-year old Kelly Remington says she has a drive to compete and besides, she NEEDS the $1,000,000 grand prize.

I've watched 'Survivor' from the beginning and haven't missed an episode.  Viewership may have declined over the years, but it keeps me coming back.  Even more than the physical challenges, I think the show is a great study in social skills.

This season's all new players will be separated into three tribes: White Collar, Blue Collar, and No Collar.  Kelly's work as a state trooper puts her in the Blue Collar category.  The No Collar category includes people for example who work on the beach or as a sailboat instructor.

'Survivor: Worlds Apart' in Nicaragua premiers with a special 90-minute episode on   Feb. 25th at 8:00 p.m.  Good luck Kelly.
