Miranda Lambert may be the four-time and reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, but that doesn't mean she's immune to the excitement of it all -- especially when she's been nominated for a whopping seven awards!
The CMAs, ACMs or the Grammys ... which awards show gets it right? With the Grammy Awards coming on Sunday (Jan. 26), --- and immediate controversy about country music’s winners sure to follow -- there is bound to be debate about who is most qualified to dish out the honors. Is it the fans, the industry, music critics or some combination of all three? Chris Young says “Yes.”
In the last 10 years, country fans have come away scratching their heads after the Grammys. Artists and albums that are ignored at the CMA and ACM Awards are honored at the all-genre ceremony that takes place each winter. Only twice in the last decade have the CMAs and Grammys agreed on Song of the Year. Only three times beyond that was the CMA Awards winner even nominated for a Grammy.
The 2013 ACM Awards produced some predictable and unpredictable moments on Sunday night. Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year, which few would have bet on in Las Vegas if gambling on awards shows was something people did. Miranda Lambert's wins were more expected, but equally deserving. 'Over You' is among the best songs of the last 15 years, and she and husband Blake Shelton are worthy of the honors.
