Buffalo Bisons: Weekend Wrap Up & Look Ahead!

Bisons Weekend Wrap Up!

One of the best parts of the spring is Bison baseball at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo.  I still haven't made the time to attend a game as of yet, but as soon as we get a string of days with good weather, ....I'm there.

Over the weekend the Bisons won one game and lost one to the Pawtucket Red Sox.  Sunday's game......

Baseball History You Didn’t Know – Dale’s Daily Data

Baseball has a rich history.  With the All-Star game being played last night I thought we’d go over some of the more unusual historical items in baseball you probably didn’t know.

In the early days of baseball, the umpire sat behind home plate in a padded rocking chair.

Babe Ruth was the first baseball player to order a bat with a knob on it. He put in his order to Louisville Slugger and he used one for the first time in 1919.

Spitballs were banned in 1920, but pitchers who already used them were allowed to continue.  Kinda like a grandfather clause.  Hall of Fame pitcher Burleigh Grimes continued to used a spit ball for the next fourteen years.  He finished his career with the Yankees in 1934.

Phillie Phanatic Hospitalized After Being Hit By Foul Ball [VIDEO]

Years of dancing on and around baseball dugouts has finally caught up with the Phillie Phanatic.

The most recognizable mascot in sports was performing Wednesday night at Lehigh Valley, home of the Philadelphia Phillies’ triple-A affiliate, when a foul ball bounced off of the dugout and struck the Phanatic in the neck.
