It's pretty much a routine now.  Buffalo Sabres fans file into First Niagara Center, cheer the Sabres when they skate onto the ice, watch them score a goal or two, lose the game, then they file out.  Game after game after game.  Hey guys - the tank was last year!  The fans are paying big money to watch this garbage and it's amazing that they keep coming back.

A much better effort than that no-show Tuesday night in Toronto, but it still wasn't good enough to give the Buffalo Sabres a victory.  The Sabres twice led the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at First Niagara Center, but the Bruins dominated the third period, scored the tying goal off a glove with five and a half minutes to play.  Then in overtime the Sabres couldn't get out of their own end and

In 1968, the Oakland Raiders played the New York Jets in a see-saw game that most people didn't see the end of. It became known as "The Heidi-bowl" because the entire East Coast cut away from the game to watch a popular children's show called 'Heidi'. They never saw the two touchdowns that the Raiders scored within :09 to come back and win.

It's the difference between what kind of team they could be and what they too often are.  But for one night the Buffalo Sabres showed how impressive they can be, putting it all together in a 7-4 over the Bruins in Boston.  Thomas Vanek leading the way with his second five-point game of the season.  Vanek scoring three goals and assisting on two others and now leads the NHL in scoring.

The Sabres played a solid 40 minutes in Boston Thursday night.  The final 20 minutes cost them though.  The Sabres were holding on to a 1-0 lead late in the second period when a turnover off the stick of newly aquired Cody Hodgson went to a Bruin and a deflected shot tied the game.  Then in the third period the Bruins were the better team putting on heavy pressure on the Sabres until finally break
