February 3, 2011 Tom Golisano along with minority owners Larry Quinn and Dan Dipofi met with the media in a one hour press conference on Thursday at HSBC Arena inwhat was basically a farewell. The sale of the Buffalo Sabres for $189-million will probably be complete within the month with the approval of the National Hockey League.
January 31, 2011 Clay and I often talk about our passions and one thing I sometimes drive him nuts about is my passion for wanting the Bills or Sabres to win a championship. How does it change my life? It really doesn't, but it's the ultimate for any fan that's been following a team all their life to see that team win a Super Bowl or a Stanley Cup or the World Series or whatever. The key is to have the people in place that share that passion and the Sabres just may have that guy coming around the bend. The Sabres are expected to announce this Thursday that the team is going to be sold to billionaire Terry Pagula.
January 11, 2011 When the guy shows up at HSBC Arena in the flesh it's hard to deny he's not there. The Buffalo Sabres released a statement that Terry Pegula met with team officials on Tuesday for informal discussions ahead of buying the team from Tom Golisano. For weeks various sources have reported that Pegula will plunk down $175-million to buy the team, but minority investor Larry Quinn continued to deny there was an elephant in the room...."a sale? What sale? I don't know anything about a sale." I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea.
January 7, 2011 The Sabres rebounded from an overtime loss in Denver to beat the San Jose Sharks 3-nothing in the second game of a 3-game road trip. Rookie Luke Adam, Jochen Hecht and Thomas Vanek scored the goals while Ryan Miller stopped 36 shots for his 3rd shutout of the season.
First Larry Quinn said that the team was not going to be sold and there was no letter of intent for a purchase......blah, blah, blah. But many media outlets are claiming otherwise.
December 28, 2010 Looks like the sale of the Buffalo Sabres to billionaire Terry Pagula will come next week. According to a report on WGRZ-TV Channel 2, an agreement to sell the team has been reached between Pagula and Tom Golisano, but it won't be announced until after the completion of the World Junior Hockey Championships taking place this week in Buffalo.
December 24, 2010 Another sellout crowd trudged out of HSBC Arena Thursday night, disappointed again by the cast of characters we know as the Buffalo Sabres. For the second time in less than a week against the Florida Panthers they failed to show up in the first period and it cost them another game at home 4-3. A much better effort in 2nd period tied the game at 3-all, but these guys just can't buy a goal when they absolutely need it. They generated a lot of shots in the third period, but way too many that were high and wide.
December 21, 2010 Nice rebound by the Sabres after those two awful games in Florida. Tyler Ennis scored twice. Nathan Gerbe and captain Craig Rivet each scored their first goals of the season. Drew Stafford opened the scoring with a power play goal. Sabres beat Anaheim 5 to 2 Tuesday night.
December 19, 2010 It's not even Christmas yet - a whole lot of games left to play, but it's looking more and more like the Sabres just don't have what it takes to get into the playoffs. They have a whole lot of work to do to improve this team
December 18, 2010 What a bunch of thieves. The Sabres stole their paychecks in a 6 to 2 loss to the Florida Panthers Friday night. They obviously weren't ready to play in the first period. They were down 1-nothing after less than two minutes and 4-nothing after the first period.
December 16, 2010 Haven't heard much about a possible sale of the Sabres since we first heard that Terry Pagula had made a bid to buy the team. Well, it turns out Pagula was at last night's Sabres game checking things out and he got to see Drew Stafford score a hat trick in a 3 to 2 win over the Bruins.
December 13, 2010 Boy it's tough being a Buffalo sports fan. The Sabres got off to a rough start and they've got some work to do to secure a playoff spot. The Sabres outplayed the Penguins on Saturday night, but lost 5 to 2.
And there's the Bills. They're assured their 11th straight year out of the playoffs.
