The Sabres played a solid 40 minutes in Boston Thursday night.  The final 20 minutes cost them though.  The Sabres were holding on to a 1-0 lead late in the second period when a turnover off the stick of newly aquired Cody Hodgson went to a Bruin and a deflected shot tied the game.  Then in the third period the Bruins were the better team putting on heavy pressure on the Sabres until finally breaking thru for a pair of goals in a 3-1 win.

The Sabres came thru with an important victory Wednesday night in their drive to the playoffs.  Jason Pominville's power play goal in overtime gave the Sabres a 3-2 win over Carolina to move the Sabres to within two points of the final playoff spot with 15 games left to play.

The Buffalo Sabres are 3 for 3 so far on their four game roadtrip. After shutout victories in Anaheim and San Jose the Sabres kept rolling along with a 5 to 3 win against the league-leading Vacouver Canucks.  The Sabres built a 3-0 first period lead on a pair of goals by Ville Leino and one by Brad Boies, then held off the Canucks the rest of the way.

In two games out west the Sabres have yet to give up a goal.  Ryan Miller posted his second straight shutout making 39 saves as the Sabres held off the San Jose Sharks 1-0 on Thursday night.  That came just one night after he made 43 saves in a 2-0 win in Anaheim on Wednesday night.  So that's 82 saves in consecutive nights for the Sabres goaltender.

As if this hockey season couldn't get any stranger. It seems that having an inordinate number of player injuries wasn't enough, Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff broke three ribs during Monday morning's practice at First Niagara Center when he was blindsided by defenseman Jordan Leopold.

The Buffalo Sabres played a tremendous defensive hockey game last night at First Niagara Center - they just had a tough time scoring.  That's no different from the way the whole season has been going.  The game against the New York Rangers ended in a scoreless tie after overtime setting the stage for a shootout.  That's where the Rangers came thru for a 1-0 win.

Finally - the Sabres win a game on the road for the first time in a month.  Nathan Gerbe's shootout goal gave the Sabres a 2 to 1 win over the Devils in New Jersey last night.  Jason Pominville also scored in the shootout while Jordan Leopold scored in regulation.  Ryan Miller was easily the best player on the ice making 27 saves including four in overtime.

An even dozen for the Sabres - they've lost 12 straight games on the road following Saturday night's 4 to 2 defeat in St. Louis.  The Sabres got both of their goals from defensemen - Mike Wilson in the first period to give the Sabres an early lead and Tyler Myers on the power play in the third.
