Sprint Cup Season Has Just Two Races Left

Eight down and just two to go, as the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship moves on to Phoenix this Sunday. Only seven points separate Jimmie Johnson and second-place Brad Keselowski.  And it could be a repeat of last year's battle between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards. Stewart trailed Edwards by eight points with three races left last year, but won the title in a points tiebreaker by winning at Texas and Homestead.

Johnson led 168 of the 334 laps, but it came down to a series of restarts in the final 20 laps. Brad Keselowski took the lead in the first two, but Johnson got the edge in the last one with two laps to go and held on for his fifth win of the season to take a 7 point lead over Keselowski.

Keselowski Wins At Dover, Takes Points Lead

Maybe he’s tearing a page from the formula Tony Stewart used last year – just keep winning, especially when they mean so much. Brad Keselowski is the leader in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship after winning for the second time in three races. Keselowski had just enough fuel to hold on to the lead and hold off Jeff Gordon to take the victory at Dover International Speedway. It’s his fifth win of the season.

Jimmie Johnson Looking To Build His Lead At Dover

Round three in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship is Sunday at Dover, Delaware’s Monster Mile.

Biffle Wins At Michigan, Takes Points Lead [VIDEO]

Greg Biffle not only won the race at Michigan but took over the Sprint Cup points lead.  He actually inherited the lead in the race when Jimmie Johnson left the track with engine trouble with six laps to go. Because Johnson’s car left oil on the track it came down to a green-white-checkered finish and Biffle held off Brad Keselowski by under a half a second at the finish line.

Sprint Cup drivers head to Pocono Raceway this weekend for the first of two stops. It’s called the "The Tricky Triangle," but maybe even trickier this year. The 2.5-mile track has been repaved since last year. And from 500 miles both races this year have been reduced to 400 miles.
