Matt Kenseth Wins At Darlington For 3rd Victory Of The Season [VIDEO]

It was quite a week for Matt Kenseth. On appeal, NASCAR lowered the tough penalties against his team for an illegal engine part used at Texas Motor Speedway, then on Saturday night at Darlington he passed teammate Kyle Busch with 13 laps to go to win the Southern 500 for the first time. And it came without his regular crew chief. Jason Radcliffe sat out Saturday night after his one race suspension for the illegal part. Kenseth had won three Nationwide races at Darlington, but it was his first in the Cup series and it’s his third victory this season.

Matt Kenseth's victory at Charlotte on Saturday night puts him right in the thick of things with five races left in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Kenseth passed Kyle Busch on a restart with 25 laps left and claimed his third victory of the season. David Ragan Wins At Daytona

For the third time this season a Sprint Cup driver posted his first career win. Saturday night at Daytona, David Ragan was in the lead on the 10th lap of overtime and the second try at a green white checkered finish when a big wreck behind him gave him the victory.

And ironic his first win would come at the same track where a mistake cost him a chance to win the Daytona 500. Last February, Ragan was penalized a lap when he changed lanes just before the start/finish line on a restart. He learned from his mistake.

Another driver besides Dale Earnhardt, Junior who hadn’t won in a long time finally did Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway. Matt Kenseth finally made it back to victory lane after a dominating performance leading 169 of 334 laps at the mile and a half track. His margin of victory was an incredible 8.3 seconds. It’s his 19th career victory, but first since February of 2009 to end a winless streak that had stretched to 76 races. He won the 2009 Daytona 500 and won again the following week in California, but nothing since.
