Memorial Day (Monday, May 26) is our time to honor the brave men and women who serve our country! There are many celebrations and parades in the Western New York area that you can see over the weekend. Here are a few of the many parades taking place this Memorial Day weekend.
Tim McGraw once again joined forces with both Operation Homefront and Outback Steakhouse, surprising vets and their families during lunch. McGraw took time out of his schedule to fraternize with military members over the Memorial Day holiday weekend so he could express his appreciation, face to face, since they do so much to keep America free.
Hope you're enjoying the Memorial Day weekend. Are you doing what you like to do? If so, it's because you and I have freedom, and we have it thanks to the men and women who laid down their lives for us.
Got any Memorial Day plans? Maybe you’re heading to a parade and dressing up in those American flag shorts (guilty). The guardians are called Sentinels and when they are chosen to serve, their duty lasts for the rest of their lives.
Memorial Day isn't just a day off. If there was ever a song that says we're thankful to the soldiers who have done just that, this is the song.
Memorial Day originated after the Civil War to commemorate the Union Soldiers killed in the war and was originally known as Decoration Day until 1882. In 1968 Congress moved four national holidays to Mondays in order to create convenient three day weekends.
