Martin Truex, Junior Takes First Chase Race

The first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship at Chicagoland Speedway goes to Martin Truex, Jr.  Using a late pit stop for new tires, Truex caught and passed rookie Chase Elliott in the final restart of the race and held on for the victory.  Elliott had led 75 laps until that last caution flag came out.

Kyle Larson Wins His First Sprint Cup Race

Two drivers looking for their first career Sprint Cup victory battled to reach their goal in Sunday's race at Michigan Speedway.  Chase Elliott had a big lead until a caution for debris on the track set up the final restart with nine laps left.  But on the restart Kyle Larson got a solid push from Brad Keselowski giving him just enough of an edge to take the lead and held off Elliott the rest of the way to give Larson his first victory and Chip Ganassi Racing its first win in 99 races.

Denny Hamlin Wins His First Road Course Race

Denny Hamlin took the lead when Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch overshot the first turn on a restart with 10 laps left and held on the rest of the way to win Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen, his first road course win and second victory of the season.  Martin Truex, Jr. challenged Hamlin on the final lap and was setting himself up for a pass until Keselowski tapped him from behind and sent him spinning.

Rookie Chris Buescher Wins Rain-Shortened Race at Pocono

It's probably not the way Chris Buescher envisioned winning his first Sprint Cup race, but he'll take it anyway.  Buescher was declared the winner after NASCAR called Monday's race at Pocono with 22 laps left because of weather.  He inherited the lead a few laps earlier during a cycle of green-flag pit stops and when dense fog moved across the track the race was red-flagged, then finally called when a line of thunderstorms made a restart impossible.

Record-Setting Weekend for Kyle Busch at Indy

Over the past few years we've seen Kyle Busch become one of NASCAR's great all-time racers and by the time he calls it quits he may be up in the class of Richard Petty, David Pearson, Dale Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon.
