October is just a busy as September when it comes to new country music releases. Almost a dozen albums make this list, and that promises to change as the month progresses. Scotty McCreery and Toby Keith have two of the more highly-anticipated new albums, and everyone wants to be sure they have new music on store shelves in time for Christmas.
For Chris Young, a new album is an opportunity to push himself further both creatively and vocally. This comes with risks. It's easy to push too far and find your fans responding with criticism, or even worse, ambivalence. That doesn't seem like it's going to be a problem for this 28-year-old.
Country radio lights up with new songs from superstars like Keith Urban and Hank Williams, Jr. in September 2013. 'We Were Us' is from Urban's new 'Fuse' album. It's a duet with Miranda Lambert that has fans buzzing even louder about the highly-anticipated project. Williams, Jr.'s 'I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink' is also a duet (and a cover).
Billy Currington adds a pinch of rock, two tablespoons of R&B and a heavy dose of soul to his new 'We Are Tonight' album. The result is a project that tastes different, but remains true to a sound he's cultivated over the last decade.
The songwriting is sharper and Justin Moore's focus more clear on his new album 'Off the Beaten Path.' It's an album that will definitively brand the 'Point at You' singer as a traditionalist, but that's not to say he plays it entirely safe.
Tyler Farr had smash has he debuted with 'Redneck Crazy' earlier this year. But, will this next song keep him around for a while? It's called 'Whiskey in My Water' What do you think? Should we play it on WYRK?
The next generation of country stars hold down many of the top spots on this list of the Top 40 country songs for September 2013. You'll find a hot country duo and a solo male with one heck of a pedigree. More established stars like Keith Urban and Jason Aldean also fill out two of the Top 10 songs, but neither have their single in the No. 1 spot.
