New York State taxes

For most people, living in New York is amazing. There is a lot to do, plenty of amazing food, and all four seasons. Of course, with every good comes some bad. We decided to ask people what they hated about living in New York.

This week New York Governor Kathy Hochul gave her proposed state budget plan for 2025 and there is some very good news for New York taxpayers.

Many county governments are in fear they will need to issue a substantial tax increase if the State doesn't release aid.

As tax day looms, here are a few tips if you haven't filed yet or received your refund

You just have to live die, and pay taxes. Normally that means getting your taxes done by April 15th. But this year, New Yorkers will have a couple of extra days.

The base personal income tax rates are going up for some New Yorkers this year, so you may need to get ready to pay a little bit more to Albany

With the deadline for filing your income taxes just a week away you might be interested to know that no other state has a higher tax burden than New York State.  No state in the country taxes their residents more aggressively than New York does.  We're Number One.  Congratulations.
