They have announced that on Monday, January 27 you will no longer see single-use plastic bags in any of their stores. Officials say that every home takes on average 1,500 plastic bags home a year and Waste Management says that only 1% of them are actually recycled...
New York has passed a law to eliminate the use of plastic bags in stores by March of 2020. But Wegman's has vowed that they will stop using them even sooner.
There has been a lot of talk about plastic grocery bags lately in New York State as they've essentially been banned, but there is still a great use for those bags.
