The "Star Spangled Banner", our country's national anthem. Penned by Francis Scott Key back in 1812 during the War of 1812. It's a beautiful song which has been sung by many, perfected by a few (of course, Whitney Houston) and butchered by a handful (namely, Roseanne Barr). For me, the "Star Spangled Banner" and "America The Beautiful" are the two best patriotic songs our country has. If we were ever to switch national anthems...I'd hope it would be "America The Beautiful." That finally brings me to the point of this post. Vanity Fair/60 Minutes conducted a survey which asked participants ...Q- "If the country were to have a new national anthem...Who should write it? The singer who was selected most frequently was....

Should Both Canadian and United States Anthems be Played At Events?

I had a chance to be at the Jam In The Valley once again this year. if you missed this years, do not miss it next year. It is one of the best ways to spend your Independence Day weekend.

I think one of the classiest parts about the whole thing is the fact that on both nights, there is a point before the headliners are on stage that the anthems for both the United States and Canada are performed. This has come up in conversation recently.

You may have heard the renditions of celebrities who have sung the national anthem and totally messed it up. They've forgotten the words, missed notes, and just really banged it up. Here's a video of some of our nations bravest singing "The Star Spangled Banner." Somehow, it doesn't matter how they sing it....it just sounds good coming from them.

And then the crowd just tears into the person who just mangled their anthem. This little girl seemed prepared. She never missed a word....and then the mic stopped working for her. That's where the crowd came to the rescue.
