The Erie County Fair is taking applications thru May 11th for students interested in becoming members of the Erie County Fair Marching Band this summer.  The band is described as an "all star" group of musicians representing schools across Western New York.  The band makes appearances at parades and events beginning in July and each day during the duration of the Erie County Fair.

Membership in the band is open to brass, woodwind and percussion musicians and color guard members in grades 7 thru 12.  Application forms and information is available online at ECFair Marching Band.

Founded in 1982, the Erie County Fair Marching Band presented by Pepsi Cola will be entering its 36th summer season. According to a statement from Fair officials the Erie County Fair is one of the only fairs in North America to sponsor its own onsite marching band.

I attend the Fair every year and last year I stayed there for the duration of the Fair and I always look forward to the Erie County Fair Marching Band.  No matter what I'm doing I'll stop and watch as the band marches by.  These are incredibly talented musicians who give up their time to become members of an exclusive group.

Erie County Fair CEO and manager Jessica Underberg said "this is an excellent opportunity for band members to interact with students from other districts as well as showcase their talents at the region's largest annual event."
