The Story Behind Eric Paslay’s ‘Friday Night’ [VIDEO]

“Friday Night” is one of my favorite songs on the radio right now. What you may not know is that some of the songs Eric Paslay has written have already made some chart climbs — “Angel Eyes” for Love + Theft, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” for Jake Owen and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” for the Eli Young Band.

Three number ones…not shabby. Paslay says:

I love creating. You show up and there’s nothing there. And you walk out of the room with a song….Songs have a life of their own.

This is how Paslay came up with the story for “Friday Night”:

We were just writin’ one morning thinkin’ about all the things you hate during the week, and we were like, ‘How cool would it be to be someone’s Friday night on a Monday morning?’
