In the latest installment of Covering Your Tracks -- back following a holiday hiatus -- the Young Fables take on singer-songwriter Caitlyn Smith’s song “Tacoma.” Press play on the video above to watch; it's premiering exclusively for readers of The Boot.

Smith has written songs for legends such as Garth Brooks ("Tacoma" appears on his 2014 album Man Against Machine) and Kenny Rogers, not to mention that she's got impressive vocal chops herself. All together, that made covering a song of hers a little intimidating for the Young Fables.

“We were nervous to attempt a Caitlyn Smith song because her vocals are untouchable, but Wes and I just want people to know about her!” TYF’s Laurel Wright tells The Boot. “This song is so special  ...

""Tacoma" is quite different from the body of songs we have previously recorded for the CYT series," Wright adds, "and we are thrilled to show a different side of us.”

The Young Fables filmed this cover of "Tacoma" at the Sound Shelter in Franklin, Tenn., which provided the perfect backdrop for their brooding, emotive rendition of the tune.

“The atmosphere was perfect! Brett Stewart made us feel right at home and was such a down-to-Earth talent and fantastic engineer,” Wright gushes. “He even made us POPCORN with his wife's homemade custom seasoning!”

Fans can find Smith's version of "Tacoma" on her 2016 EP Starfire; it's available for download on iTunes.

A new installment of Covering Your Tracks will debut on The Boot on Feb. 8.
