Many of us watched the Muppets while growing up, but did you know puppetry is an ancient art?  You might after this weekend.

There is a New York Puppet Festival and a Perry, NY native is bringing it there.

According to WGRZ, his name is Josh Rice and he's a huge fan of puppets.  He's actually a puppeteer who has designed and built puppets himself.

He's bringing this festival to Perry in Wyoming County to show that Kermit and Miss Piggy are just part of the puppeting world.  They have invited puppeteers from here in the United States and from around the world.

The New York Puppet Festival will begin tonight and run through the 24th of June.
