This Southtowns Favorite Has Finally Come to the Northtowns

For years fans of Charlap's Ice Cream asked Nick Charlap when he was going to open a location in the Northtowns.  Friday was the day.  Charlap's has opened up in the former Reid's hot dog and ice cream stand at 2800 Elmwood Avenue in Ken-Ton.

In addition to Hamburg, Boston, West Seneca and Angola the new store in Ken-Ton  becomes the fifth Charlap's location featuring 24 flavors of locally made hard ice cream plus soft serve.  Although the Boston, West Seneca and Angola locations are ice cream only, the Ken-Ton store will offer a full menu of burgers, hot dogs, fries and other items off the grill just like the Hamburg location.

After a lot of work getting the new place ready the key to opening up on Friday was getting the Pepsi dispenser in place and that happened on Thursday.  And still to come is an awning which should happen within the week.  But that didn't matter to the people already standing in line when the windows opened for the first time at 3 pm on Friday.  Summer business hours will be 11 am to 10 pm.
