Whoever threatened a North Tonawanda volunteer firefighter apparently carried out that threat on Tuesday afternoon.  He was victimized by what appears to be an arson blaze at his home on Oliver Street.

Ken Walker is the only black volunteer firefighter in the North Tonawanda Fire Department working out of the Gratwick Hose Company on Ward Road.  On Monday he found a racist letter in his home mailbox demanding that he leave the department by the end of the week or "you will regret it."  The letter also twice used the "n" word.

He reported it to his commander who contacted North Tonawanda Police.  The FBI is also investigating.  But the case went to a new level with the arson fire that heavily damaged Walker's home.

On Monday, Walker had pledged not to be intimidated, but said he'd take whatever steps he needed to protect himself and his family.  Apparently no one was injured.
