It seems as though Governor Andrew Cuomo has abandoned plans to raise highway tolls for trucks and other commercial vehicles.

The proposal would have seen a toll hike of 45 percent which would have helped the Thruway Authority close a 90 million dollar shortfall in the budget.  Instead, a new proposal has been drawn up that will help the budget issue with out an increase in tolls for at least the next 3 years. Currently, a 5 -axle truck traveling from Albany to Buffalo on the I-90 has to pay $65.15.  If the 45 percent toll increase would have gone through, those truck companies would be paying $94.45 to make the same trip!!
