Timothy Joyner Is This Week’s Hometown Hero
It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week. This week, our Hometown Hero from Tonawanda, NY served in the United States Navy. It’s Timothy Joyner!
Tim joined the United States Navy after his senior year of high school in 1986. He began his military career in California and was stationed in Hawaii, Texas and even lived overseas for a bit. Tim retired as a Chief, was an excellent leader and definitely left a great impression on many. He still gets messages from others that he served with thanking him for instilling such great values and always leading from the front.
Tim has served 20 years in the United States Navy, but it does not end there. Tim absolutely loves our country and constantly shows support and respect for those in our community. Even after his many deployments he misses being a part of the brotherhood and team that the military provided. He says often how much he wishes he was still in and loves to talk about his memories.
After his retirement he knew that he still wanted to be involved as much as he could. Tim currently works as an IT Specialist for the Department of Veteran Affairs in Buffalo, NY. He feels honored that he gets to still have a part in the lives of our military men and women. Tim goes above and beyond to ensure that they are taken care of properly and given the respect they deserve.
This week, we are honored to put the spotlight on Tim Joyner and name him our Hometown Hero of the week!
