April 10th is considered Golfer’s or Golf Day. Not sure if it honors golfers, the sport, the weather, the beginning of the golf season, but no matter for many it’s an excuse to take a day off from work and play some golf. Problem in this area the day probably falls a little too early in spring and after the winter we had you’re not going to find any courses open.

Why is it Golf Day? A couple of theories; the first professional golf tournament was held on this date in 1916. The other theory is that a major technological change happened when the tubular steel golf club shaft was approved for championship play on this day in 1924.

Also interesting that it comes on the day what many consider golf’s most prestigious golf tournament – the Masters - begins.

15 of the last 18 U-S Presidents have played golf. None has played more rounds of golf during his presidency than Barack Obama.

President Obama enjoys playing golf and so far in his presidency he’s played 163 rounds of golf. But to be fair President Bush – Bush 2 says golf provides an outlet from the pressures of the job. He knows what it’s like to be in that fish bowl and when he played golf he said it was a couple of hours to unwind.
