It was one of those games where the better team was beaten by an even better goaltender.  Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Anderson stopped 42 of 43 shots to lead the Leafs past the Buffalo Sabres at Key Bank Center on Thursday night.

Mitchell Marner scored both Toronto goals and Anderson made them hold up in a 2-1 victory.  Marcus Foligno scored the lone Buffalo goal on a night where the Sabres should have had four, maybe five goals.

The Toronto win is just their second regulation victory in their last 20 visits to Buffalo.  The Sabres are 17-2-1 against the Leafs in their last 20 games at Key Bank Center.

The Sabres are at Ottawa on Saturday night.
